Introduced September 12, 2006, the Apple TV, it is a network device designed to play digital content originating from any Mac OS X or Windows computer running iTunes onto an enhanced-definition or high-definition widescreen television.
It's basically Apple's version of the home theater.
You can synchronize the Apple TV to your computer's video library if you want and the Apple TV comes with the Apple Remote, just like an iMac does. You can also connect to up to 5 iTunes libraries and stream video or audio from those libraries. Heck, you can even watch your photos on your big screen from a Mac in another room.
There are a couple of choices of hard drive size, currently either 40GB or 160GB for storage and the requirements are simple...the Apple TV, an internet connection, a wireless network, iTunes Store account (to rent or buy movies) and Widescreen (16 x 9) enhanced-definition or high-definition television with an HDMI, DVI, or component video input port.
Presto, you have a home theater.
