The iMac was originally an egg shaped all-in-one G3 computer that Apple Computer introduced in 1998. It sold wildly and has had 3 major upgrades since then. At the time it was a release that turned the computer industry upside down and probably also began the road back to profitability for Apple Computer.
The current iMac has a brushed aluminum case and black-bordered glass, tilts forward and back and has all the ports in the back and the media drive on the side. The current version has an Intel processor allowing it to boot up into Windows (you need a copy of Windows to do this) as well as the Mac OS.
The iMacs also come loaded with the latest version of Mac OS X software and all the other stock software that most Macs come with.
I personally use one of the all-white 24" Intel iMacs and the machine "just works". For the cost, it is a bargain and it was easy to upgrade the RAM to the max 2GB. It is a beast of a machine!
