Introduced on September 5, 2007, the iPod Classic was the first Apple iPod music and video player that carried the moniker "Classic". Before this they were simply iPods.
This was the sixth generation iPod and this one was slightly thinner and had an improved battery life of up to 40 hours of music or up to 7 hours of video. They also changed the white polycarbonate plastic front to anodized aluminum and dropped the U2 version.
The current version is available in both 80GB and 160Gb storage capacity models and connect with a USB 2.0 connection.
The software now also sports a "Cover Flow" view to view the album covers.
