Apple Computer does not just make great hardware. They make some of the best software out there too.
A bunch of this software comes with the install of the operating system OS X Leopard, like Mail (email), iTunes (music organization application), Spaces (creates virtual desktops), Safari (web browsing), Boot Camp (boot into Windows), time machine (automated backup), Quicktime (media viewer), Quick Look (instant file previews), iChat (internet chat), Address Book, iCal (scheduling) and lots more.
You can get the iLife suite and for under $80 get iMovie (make custom movies), iPhoto (organize thousands of photos), iDVD (author DVD movies), GarageBand (make music) and iWeb (create web sites).
Then there is Apple's answer to Microsoft Office called iWork (also $79) which gets you Pages (siilar to MS Word), Numbers (similar to MS Excel) and Keynote (similar to MS PowerPoint).
But Apple does not stop there. They also make a line of Pro applications which are top notch industry standard recognized names like Final Cut Pro (for high end media editing), Logic Pro (for high end music editing) and Aperture (high end photo editing).
